Beneath the Scales

As part of a conceptual design assignment, we were asked to choose a single object and develop three entirely different creative projects from it. My choice is fish. 

For this project, I shifted my focus from the fish itself to its scales. Fish scales are not only a protective barrier, but also a camouflage to hide secrets. Beneath the surface of the world lies an unknown truth.Beneath the Scale is a conceptual magazine series that explores the hidden truths behind what we think we know.

Inspired by the structure and symbolism of fish scales—at once beautiful, protective, and deceptive—this project investigates how layers of appearance often conceal deeper realities. Each issue peels back a different kind of "scale," uncovering secrets buried in the natural world, human behavior, and societal systems.
